Shop-A-Thon Thursday

Welcome back to Shop-A-Thon Thursday.  This week I had an epiphany, thanks to a new company that has been added to the Shop! page.  I usually try to present the companies in a very professional manner, if you will.  I give you the company, links to find their products, and descriptions about what they sell and do.  I try to keep my excitement about them to a minimum so as to not appear that I like one product/company more than another.  I wanted you to form your own opinion about the products.  I also have not personally tried some of these products and was worried about seeming like I was endorsing a product I hadn't tried.  The excuses go on and on.

Truthfully, I love finding products that are made in the USA and I love bringing them to you.  Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, so if we don't meet then, please have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving.

ChristianGiftsPlace.com (Wilton, CT) Our purpose is to bring the Word of God into the home through high quality Home Décor products.
Earthly Body (Chatsworth, CA) A respected, family-owned company that has been a pre-eminent manufacturer of high-quality hemp-based natural body and skin care products. (Note: They purchase their hemp seeds from Canada.)  There is a selection on the Shop! page.
Eco-Kids (Portland, ME) A line of art supplies that gives children the tools to create using non-toxic, natural ingredients and environmentally friendly packaging.
Get Organized(Paoli, PA) Retailer of organization tools, outdoor decor and lighting.  Do a search for Made in the USA."
Lightning Bug Learning (HQ: Carmel, CA; Suppliers and Artists, vary around the US) Educational materials that assist children in learning to read and write and provide affordable educational resources for parents and teachers
ModCloth (PA & CA) Can you say VINTAGE?!  I have to admit that I get excited at all of the products that I list here.  (I really do.)  This one got me.  I love VINTAGE and this company does it.  The best part is that they have Mod Stylists - stylists willing to give you fashion tips.  I don't know about you but I am not fashionably anything at all.  I love dresses and color and heels and know that A-line works well for me.  That's it, so having someone who can help me along sounds heavenly.  As if that weren't enough, they have a program called Be The Buyer, where YOU get to "choose which designs get created."  The link above goes directly to their Made in the USA page.
World's Greatest Bath Boats (Princeton, MN) Bath boats that are unique, personalized, collectible gifts for children and adults

Shop-A-Thon Thursday

Welcome back to another week of Shop-A-Thon Thursday.  I am always so excited to bring you the new manufacturers and retailers that make their products here in the US.

This week I added a link to the American Red Cross.  If you can, please consider donating time, talent or treasure to help in the relief efforts for the Hurricane Sandy survivors.  Remember basic math: If you can give $1, that's good.  If 1,000 people thought that way, they would have another $1,000.  That's 1,000 drops in the bucket = a bucket half full, instead of half empty.  Also, don't forget time can be considered a small prayer for them before meal time or whenever you get a moment

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need. Our network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world, through five key service areas:

       1.  Disaster Relief

Choosing Can Be Puzzling

Choosing gifts for Christmas used to be so simple.  Now with kids, I get overwhelmed.  There are so many wonderful gifts.  I strive to get the girls items that are fun and educational.  I found a puzzle made by Mamasoes that appealed to me.  It has the numbers in bright colors.  Besides the fact that it is Made in the USA, it serves several purposes for both girls.  Lyla can continue to learn her numbers.  Putting together the puzzle assists her with hand-eye coordination and as she puts the puzzle together, she learns color recognition.  This toy would be good for Bina in the simple fact that babies love colors and this puzzle fulfills in that department.  It also does not have little pieces to account for and anyone that is surrounded by mobile babies knows that that is a plus.

How's your shopping going so far?  Have you purposefully bought any Made in the USA items?  I would love to hear (or read) your thoughts and experiences.

Mom Finds Way to Always Praise Child

Now this gift can be appreciated by many.  It is a reward-and-praise chart from the Victoria Chart Company.  The chart serves as a visual reminder for kids (and I'm sure parents and caretakers alike) about how the good things they accomplish do not go unnoticed.  As the parent of a two-year old, there are days when I feel I am being tested to see how I react.  Having this chart would help present an opportunity to turn the situation around.  It is Made in the USA and based on a great value, "Let's raise good kids."

How do you praise your children and loved ones?  I would love to hear (or read) your thoughts.

This purchase would create 59,382 jobs.

Cuddling with Cuties

In shopping for Bina, I found my creative juices going.  I want to get her something sentimental.  I found this Minky Bonding Lovie Doll from All-American Baby.  When she gets sleepy, she starts reaching for a stuffed animal or a pillow, even her own dress and rubs it on her face and just cuddles.*  This little doll seems like something that she could really enjoy.  I am so excited to see how she likes it.  And, of course, it is Made in the USA.

Karina

This purchase also creates 62,540 jobs

* These items are not in her bed. I supervise her when she crawls around and these items are within reach.

The Gift is in The Box

I think whiplash is setting in.  I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is in two days.  I have been trying to think about gifts for the girls.  In my search for products Made in the U.S.A., I came across a cottage at Crafty Kids Playhouses.  It's made out of 100% recycled cardboard!  How brilliant!  Lyla loves playing with boxes.  Doesn't really care what's in the box, just the box.  I keep telling my husband that someone should come up with an idea to sell a box for kids.  Well, ask and ye shall find.  This one goes on the list.

Karina

By the way, this toy creates 124,924 jobs.  Made in the U.S.A., eco-friendly, and creates jobs - there's a feel-good purchase.
