The first Friday of every month I feature a charity here as a way of giving back. I am proud to feature this month's charity:

The mission of Kids Helping Kids Fix Broken Hearts, a 501(c)3 Non Profit Organization, focuses on helping "children in need of lifesaving heart surgery by providing funds for transportation to a hospital, food, lodging and for procedures necessary to save or enhance their quality of life." The money raised from donations and the sale of their dishtowels also assists in paying "for other expenses related to the surgery not covered by insurance."
"The Kladar Kids can be invited to share their experience, show a documentary about their charity and sell dishtowels for $5 each. Corporations, community organizations, churches, and schools are all places that can collectively save the life of a child and help families in need." If you are involved in an organization and would like to help, please contact them.
For anyone that is a parent or compassionate towards children's needs, this charity will tug at your heart strings. Nothing interrupts life more than having a sick child, especially one that is in need of life-saving surgery. To have the added pressure of meeting financial obligations relieved, helps a family to focus on the recovery of their child. If you want to help out this great cause, you can purchase a dishtowel......or two or you can donate here.
By the way, "the dishtowels are purchased from a manufacturer in Michigan and sent to a local fabric store in Coeur d'Alene, ID for screen printing."

This is great! Love that you do these posts! Have you ever heard of Amazima ministries? Founded by Katie Davis. A homecoming queen who at the age of 19 moved to Uganda, adopted 14 children and started her own ministry!

ReplyDeleteI looked up the ministry and what a wonderful mission they have. To educate people in Uganda is quite an undertaking, but education is at the core of who we are. When we know stuff, we do stuff, so to speak.
Because I blog about products that are made in the USA, in keeping with that theme, I focus on charities who assist people in the US. Since the comments are published here, though, anyone that reads this post can also see your recommended charity and read more about their fantastic cause. I really do appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment and letting all of us know about them. That's the purpose of this post.

Well, I had to buy one. What an adorable towel and an awesome sacrifice those children are doing to help others. I love it. Can't wait to receive my towel. I will talk to my son about it (he is 3 yrs, so I'll do my best) - I want to instill in him about helping others rather it's with your time or money.

DeleteIt's funny because I was looking for kitchen towels around the same time that I stumbled upon this charity. That was God leading me. I found some towels and a way to pay it forward.
My daughter is 3 also and we teach her: Give, Save, Spend - based on the financial planning class that we took.

I love the fact that it was the kids idea to start this charity. I am sure their parents have to be involved-but that makes it a family affair which is even better.
